IAB Serbia MIXX Awards 2017 and conference are set to return in December. Entrants are able to attend IAB Masterclass workshop where they will learn how to present their projects in the upcoming competition. The event will be held on 6 September at Belgrade’s Cineplexx.

“In addition to the results achieved, there are many factors that put one work on the winning stage. During the three-hour educational program participants will have the opportunity to get know of tricks, examples of best practices and tips on how to prepare and present your project,” IAB Serbia states in a press release.

Attendants of “How to prepare a presentation for an awards show” will be joined by Žarko Sakan (managing director at New Moment New Ideas Company), Lazar Džamić (creative strategist), Vladimir Arandjelović, (general assembly president of IAB Serbia, juror at IAB MIXX Awards Europe 2017) and Ivan Minić, (jury president at IAB MIXX Awards Serbia 2016).


Fabular’s Anja Bauer Minkara in 2018 REBRAND 100 Global awards jury

Anja Bauer Minkara, founder of branding agency Fabular will join her colleagues in the jury, which will decide about the best rebounding projects in the world.

Anja Bauer Minkara is senior branding consultant and founder at Fabular, the specialized branding agency. She led Brandoctor, former Bruketa & Žinić OM’s sister agency, for 14 years.

»It’s an honour. The process of rebranding is very inspirational and demanding. From my own experience I can say that without good understanding of branding and passion for the business it’s impossible to be successful,« Bauer Minkara commented her role.


Señor’s “Honest wines” featured among the best packaging in the world

Zagreb based creative shop Señor designed labels for wine producer Matković. Launched in June last year, now they are featured in Lürzer’s Archive’s Packaging Design Worldwide.


Its special edition of Cabernet Franc, named after Zagreb Pride parade, expresses support to “honest love”. According to the agency, they skipped standard marketing “nonsense” and focused on honest moments “in which many can see themselves” instead.

Time to shine – Epica Awards 2017 calls for entries

The Epica Awards, the only creative prize judged by journalists, are now open for entries.

The only global creative awards judged by journalists launched its 31st year in 2017. Epica will hold its next jury meeting, conference and ceremony in Berlin from 13-16 November. The 2017 jury president is Spencer Baim, Chief Strategic officer at VICE Media..

The awards ceremony itself will be held at the Meistersaal, a historic concert hall built, on 16 November.


Epica is watching you!

31th Epica Awards will be located in Berlin between 13-16 November. The jury will be headed by Spencer Baim, chief strategic officer at Vice media. Also, Music Video category and provocative ad campaign have been announced.

Epica unveiled its own ad campaign, this year created in-house. The campaign features the words “We are watching you” composed of letters cut out from the names of the magazines and sites on the Epica jury. However, new to the jury this year are The Economic Times, India and Marketing Directo, Spain.

Additionally, Epica has introduced two new categories this year: Music Video; and Online and Mobile Services (which covers advertising for digital brands such as Airbnb and Uber).

“We’re delighted to return to Berlin, which is one of the world’s most exciting and creative cities. As it’s a hub of startup talent we thought it would be appropriate to explore the merging worlds of technology and creativity in our conference, hence the theme The Creative Singularity,” remarked Mark Tungate, Epica editorial director.


Richard Curtis to receive Cannes LionHeart Award

Richard Curtis, co-Founder of Comic Relief and Project Everyone, will receive the award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Curtis will be honoured with the Cannes LionHeart Award in recognition of his continued and significant involvement in charitable initiatives.


“When I attended Cannes Lions a couple of years ago I was struck by this shared belief between all of us there that creativity has the power to change the world. I’m a strong believer that you have to create things, to make things happen,” Curtis commented the award.

As a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Advocate, Curtis founded Project Everyone which, along with the United Nations, and helped to launch and promote the Global Goals, a series of ambitious targets to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and combat climate change by 2030. Project Everyone exists “to encourage action, awareness and accountability for the Goals so that they stand the best chance of being achieved.” Terry Savage, Chairman, Cannes Lions, cited this specifically as being “the true embodiment of the Cannes LionHeart Award”.

Curtis is is also Co-Founder and Vice-Chair of Comic Relief, which he started after visiting Ethiopia during the 1985 famine. In 1988, Comic Relief launched its Red Nose Day fundraising initiative which has gone on to raise more than £1 billion for projects in the UK and around the world. Curtis is also a founding member of Make Poverty History. As part of the campaign he wrote three times Emmy winning television drama, The Girl in the Café, as well as writing TV movie Mary and Martha, which has been shown in 50 countries and is now used as a campaigning tool by many organisations committed to ending malaria.


Bruketa & Žinić OM’s “Djuru The Local Guru” Wins Silver at Creativity Awards

Remember the series of tv ads titled "Djuru the local guru" where the guy knew everything and more? It won Silver in Media and Interactive at Creativity Awards.

In February, Croatian beer brand Karlovačko launched a campaign titled “Djuru – The Local Guru” that is based on an insight that Croatians do not need a leader, just a powerful motivator. Chuck Norris-like by knowledge, Djuru’s dropping wisdom bombs and represents the brand in an entertaining way. The guy can return the non-returnable bottle, why not listen to him?

Grey is Agency of the Year in Slovenia!

At the 26th Slovenian Advertising Festival in Portorož, Grey Ljubljana was named Agency of the Year before Pristop, which took the second place for the first time after winning for four consecutive years, and Luna\TBWA.
